If popular culture is increasingly cynical, skeptical and sarcastic, well, I’m from Scotland, so it feels like home.
Growing up in the land of David Hume, skepticism seems to be in the Scottish DNA. It means I’m no easy believer - of anything. However, it’s not easy to shrug-off the kind of sense that used to be common. That’s why the wisdom of another Scot, Thomas Reid won me over. Skepticism is self-defeating and soul-destroying, and ultimate truth is within reach of ordinary people. |

For example, there are three things we do know - three things everybody knows:
That’s why it’s easy to see the world like a giant jigsaw puzzle: it’s broken, confusing and we’ll never find all the pieces.
- This world is broken
- Life is confusing
- We’ll never find all the answers
That’s why it’s easy to see the world like a giant jigsaw puzzle: it’s broken, confusing and we’ll never find all the pieces.
But the jigsaw reminds us…
You don’t need every piece of a puzzle to see the big picture! You don’t need to know everything to know the truth! Suddenly, there’s hope of making sense of the world. All you need is enough important parts that stand-out and snap into place. Even with pieces missing or parts that don’t seem to fit, you can stand back and say, with confidence, “I can see the big picture! Wow! |
"Suddenly, there's hope of making sense of the world."
If you could look at life and see the big picture, that would change everything!
So what's my passion? For those who are looking at life and scratching their head.... I encourage you to think about what you believe and why you believe it. I encourage you to pursue what is true - find the worldview that fits. |
I remind you, tolerance is not agreeing with everyone, it's respecting those you disagree with and allowing them to hold and express their view.
Finally, seekers of truth have nothing to fear because "contrast is the mother of clarity!"*
I love to share reasons why I believe the Christian worldview is true, why it resonates with reality, and how it helps us make the best sense of the world, others and ourselves.
